Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner, and there are tons to celebrate. Not only does the holiday signal the start of the summer season, but it also serves to remember the troop’s great sacrifices for the country. Memorial Day should not be taken lightly with so much significance – it’s the time to celebrate! This upcoming week, there are many beaches to visit, multiple parades to observe, and numerous people to hang out with. To help you with your holiday plans, here are some of the best activities to do in the Miami area for this Memorial Day Weekend:

1. Miami Beach Air and Sea Show

This two-day event will be part of the national salute to the brave servicemen and women. To pay tribute to the country’s military, jets will fly above the Miami coastline as powerboats flash across the waters. Even more, the spectacle will also feature aerobatic acts, boat racing, extreme water sports, and everything that Miami Beach has to offer. On May 29 and Sunday, May 30, the events begin at 11 AM and go until 4:30 PM. The event map shows all the viewing areas available, with free public viewing spots between the 13th and 14th streets. The party offers beach games, face paintings, and a petting zoo for the kiddies. A farmer’s market and classic car show will be available for the grown-ups and live entertainment from local artists like Big Harvest and Pitbull of Blues. The showstopper will be the precision free-fall parachute jump, as para-commandos skydive from over 12,000 ft. in the air. The celebration is free to enter, and it runs from 11:30 AM to 6:30 PM. These colossal wonders were created with twigs, branches, and wood limbs collected by the artist himself. Be amazed by an 18” long praying mantis that weighs an amazing 1,200 pounds! And a bumblebee that’s 5” long nesting on an enormous wooden flower. Bask in a relaxing stroll through this magical garden of behemoth bugs.
